The singer meets his lover at the beautiful piece of land where a windmill stands. There he finds love. After the wedding, he never leaves it again.

The words and music were written in the 1920s by Jan van Laar Sr. The song was part of Willy Derby's regular repertoire and was later performed and recorded by many other artists. Even now it is still a part of the Dutch collective song memory.

'Daar bij die molen' is performed by the choir Cantiamo Leidschendam, conducted by Grigori Sarolea and accompanied by Bouke Feleus on accordion.
