Lived in France until 1955 and studied in Paris at the Ecole Estienne and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. In 1956 he received a Dutch government grant. Since 1963 he has been living in Amsterdam, working as a freelance photographer. From 1978 he taught photography at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam for a number of years.
Published photo's in an number of books, of which 'Perspectieven' ('Perspectives') from 1966 is the most well-known. His work has been on show at exhibitions in both France and the Netherlands.
