Teaching forbidden
The children in the camps were unable to attend school in a normal way. In many camps, teaching was forbidden. Still, lessons were given on the sly to small groups of children, but there were not enough teachers to go round. Moreover, there was a shortage of teaching materials, books, copybooks and pens. Most children were years behind by the end of the war. Some of them never managed to make up for the lost years.
