Bowing
Bowing in front of superiors was entirely normal for the Japanese. But the Dutch felt humiliated by the obligation to bow. Moreover, bowing was subjected to clearly defined rules. Those who did not follow the rules were punished. In fact, bowing in front of a guard meant bowing in front of the emperor, in the eyes of the Japanese.

- Een pentekening van een moeder en haar kind die diep buigend groeten voor de Japanse kampcommandant. Rechts op de tekening een stomend kookpotje. De tekening is na de oorlog gemaakt. De maker over deze tekening:"Om de familie iets te laten zien. Deze schets is dus niet authentiek, noch geestig. De andere tekeningen zijn steeds met gevoel voor humor gemaakt."
