Poster Federation by Otto Treumann.
In 1946, graphic designer Otto Treumann (Fürth, Germany 1919 – Weesp 2001) made a poster for the ‘Federation’. The ‘Federation’ was the Dutch Federation of Professional Artists. This association promoted the interests of all Dutch artists. It was also an umbrella organization for a variety of smaller art associations such as GKf, the Dutch Professional Photographers Association.
Treumann’s first sketches for the poster show people but as the design progressed the poster becomes increasingly abstract. The final poster contained no recognizable objects at all. It has a rhythmic structure in which form, color and typography form an organic entity. The colored stripes correspond to the different art forms.
