Memory in Motion > The collection
The collection offers a fascinating image of the developments and processes that swiftly transformed the Netherlands into a modernised society after 1945. The period of reconstruction is on view, as is the new relationship between home life, work and leisure; the growing influence of television, which forced authority figures to adopt a different way of communicating with their constituency; the attempts to help 'ordinary people' find their way in this new society; and - from the 1960s onwards - the rise of the multi-cultural society.
The collection contains documentaries, the news, reportages, current affairs programmes, talk shows, Political Party Broadcasts, Polygoon news programmes, commissioned films, educational films, audio reportages, causeries and radio plays.
The collection has been divided into five themes:
· Reconstruction in the 1940s and 1950s.
