1975-2001: Dutch History Photo Commissions > Computerization in the Netherlands

Interpolis - servicecentrum, 1984, fotograaf De Wit

Exhibition: 1986

The advance of the computer in the workplace some employees found inspiring and exciting, others frightening. Relationships with colleagues, customers, subordinates and bosses changed because of the advancing computerization in the eighties.

Photographers Michel Pellanders and René de Wit decided to take this angle for the exhibition ‘The robot age’. De Wit focused on people and the changes in their work. He wanted to show the shift from physical labour to work consisting mainly of controlling and operating tasks.
