Exhibition: 1979-1980

The Netherlands have become an immigration country. Many immigrants do not want to renounce the culture and religion of their countries of origin. The Dutch slowly begin to realise that they know very little of their new residents. The exhibition had to show the multicultural character of the Netherlands. Importantly, it should not be a protest against discrimination, neither should it result in a folkloristic exhibition. It had to address the ways in which immigrants experience their own culture and traditions.
