This digital collection of the Railway Museum consists of approximately 400 paintings, 1250 prints, 500 drawings, 750 posters and 21,000 photographs, including 2000 picture postcards, all of which have railways as their central theme.  The focus is on the Dutch railway history but the collection also shows several foreign images.

The material covers the period from 1840 to 2005 and gives a rich and varied picture of the transport-related and social and community development of the railway company in the Netherlands. This makes it a leading collection that depicts the theme railways perfectly; a theme that has been included in the official history canon of the Netherlands.
