The Centraal Museum in Utrecht has been managing the Rietveld Schröder Archive since 1985. It is an extensive and important archive consisting of more than 2000 drawings, almost 2000 pictures, more than 1800 letters and a variety of texts and other documents. Almost all the objects in the archive have been digitized.

The archive was compiled by Gerrit Rietveld and Truus Schröder when they were living together in the Rietveld Schröder House in Utrecht. After his death, Truus Schröder further expanded the archive. She stipulated that after her death the archive would be managed by the Foundation Rietveld Schröder Archive. It was to be kept by the Centraal Museum. In 1988, the Centraal Museum showed the main objects from the archives in the exhibition Het Rietveld Schröder Archief (The Rietveld Schröder Archive). Many items were also shown in the exhibition Rietveld's Universe in 2010 (in 2011 it can be viewed in MAXXI in Rome).

As part of the Rietveld Year (2010), the Centraal Museum made the archives accessible in a contemporary way, via a special Rietveld - website enabling continuing expansion of the information available on the archive objects. In addition, visitors can now share their knowledge. The collection is now integrated in centraalmuseum.nl.
