Engravings and drawings from the eighteenth century
A collection of the Atlas van Stolk
A small selection of prints and drawings from the eighteenth century portrays the political developments and daily life of that time. The rise of the patriot movement in the Republic, the fourth English War with the Battle of Dogger Bank and the creation of a tree of freedom can be seen, for example. The selection also shows a good example of optical telegraphy that makes it possible to communicate over large distances and with which the North Sea coast was monitored after the proclamation of the Batavian Republic.
