Dutch photographers > Thematic selection

A number of photographers is represented by a larger or thematic group of photographs, such as the traditional regional dress that Cas Oorthuys photographed for a photobook in the series De Schoonheid van ons land (The Beauty of our country) (1962).

Wally Elenbaas / Esther Hartog, Reclining nude with shadows (1953-1955).

In addition, selections were made from the Fotomuseum’s extensive collection of prints. There is a series of portraits made by Charles Breijer at the time of Indonesian independence and prints by the anthropologist Paul Julien, by Wim K. Steffen, by the Rotterdam visual artist and photographer Wally Elenbaas and his wife Ester Hartog and by architecture and portrait photographer Werner Mantz were selected. The special prints collection by the latter is seen as one of the highlights of this Memory of the Netherlands collection.
