Zondoek
- Description
- Zondoek, sendook, sindoek: na 1600 in zwang gekomen geruite hoofddoek, waarvan de naam duidt op bescherming tegen de zonneschijn. Alleen in Hindeloopen tot in de 19e eeuw in gebruik gebleven. De "sendook" is een onmiskenbaar onderdeel van "it wivehead" als wel van "it fanehead". Deze geruite doek bij de gehuwde vrouw anders gevouwen dan bij de ongehuwde vrouw. Voor 's zondags en "pronk" was de doek stijver gesteven dan voor zomaar bij de daagse dracht. De zondoek kwam ook elders in Nederland voor, o.a. marken tijdens de hooioogst.
