- Voor de woningen aan de Freesialaan in Aalsmeer staat een volkswagen "Kever". De lantaarnpaal scheidt precies de huizen van elkaar. Direct na de Tweede Wereldoorlog waren in Nederland veel woningen nodig om de woningnood op te lossen. Architect J. Berghoef ontwierp voor Aalsmeer enkele huizen, die in 1946 zijn gebouwd. Daarbij hield hij zich aan de stijl die voor de oorlog gebruikelijk was. De eengezinswoningen bestonden toen meestal uit baksteen en andere traditionele materialen. De grond was draagkrachtig genoeg om geen hijpalen te gebruiken. De fundering bestond hier slechts uit een betonnen verbreedde plaat op staal. Woningbouwvereniging Aalsmeer nam het beheer op zich en verhuurde de woningen. Het zijn gewilde huizen waar mensen tot op hoge leeftijd graag blijven wonen. De Freesialaan ligt aan de rand van een bebouwd gebied. Achter de huzien wordt een belangrijke economische activiteit zichtbaar: teelt onder glas. Deze verschaft voor veel bewoners uit Aalsmeer werkgelegenheid. Daarnaast zijn veel inwoners werkzaam op luchthaven Schiphol.
