- Description
- Map publisher Nicolaas Visscher II (1649-1702), was also specialised in the publication of prints about gardens. He commissioned Romeyn de Hooghe (1645-1708) in 1685 to engrave a series of prints of gardens of Enghien south of Brussels. This is the title page of the series. Along the bottom of the print there is a dedication of Nicolaas Visscher to the owner of the gardens, prince Charles dArenberg. The prince bought the place in 1606 together with his sons Philippe and Charles and designed the complex of gardens which were considered one of the seven wonders of the world.
