- The island Sicily was in the 17th century part of the kingdom of Napels. As most of the maps of Italy this map by Nicolaas Visscher II (1649-1702) was a copy of an older map from the map book Italia by the Italian cartographer Giovanni Antonio Magini (1555-1617).
