- Vier kinderen staan voor het wooncomplex 'De Peperclip' in de Rosestraat in Rotterdam. Na de Tweede Wereldoorlog begon het gebombardemeerde Rotterdam aan haar wederopbouw. Om bewoners een dak te bieden werden er tot in jaren zestig vele nieuwe woningen gebouwd. In de jaren zeventig en tachtig verschoof de aandacht van de gemeente Rotterdam naar de inmiddels verpauperde vooroorlogse stadswijken. In deze periode vond er grootschalige stadsvernieuwing plaats. Zo kreeg architect C. Weeber in 1982 de opdracht een groot sociaal woningbouwproject op de 'Kop van Zuid' te ontwerpen. Op een verlaten plek langs de Binnenhaven bracht hij de 563 woningen onder in een semi-gesloten woonblok. Weeber wilde de omvang van het bijna 500 meter lange gebouw laten verwijzen naar de grootschalige havenelementen uit de omgeving. Het gebouw zelf bestaat uit drie gebogen koppen van zeven en negen verdiepingen. De verbindende langwerpige tussenbebouwing bestaat uit vier lagen. De gevels bestaan uit prefab-betonnen elementen die met tegels zijn bekleed in de kleuren wit, grijs, zwart, geel, blauw en rood. De tegels vormen op de gevels band- en schaakbordpatronen. In het auto-vrije binnengebied zijn de gevels wit betegeld. Door de vormgelijkenis met een ietwat opgebogen paperclip heeft het gebouw ook deze naam gekregen.
