- Description
- In 1779, American Navy Officer John Paul Jones took the Britsh Navy ship, H.M.S Serapis. He escaped with his catch to the Dutch Island of Texel. Consequently the British Royal Navy blockaded Texel. While waiting for a chance to escape Jones wrote a description of his adventures. British ambassador Yorke complained to the States General about the presence of Jones in the Neutral Dutch Republic and asked for his extradition.
