Sunken Treasures > Cultural Heritage Agency
The Cultural Heritage Agency manages the Netherlands’ archaeological heritage on behalf of the Minister of Education, Science and Cultural Affairs. This heritage, which often lies hidden beneath homes, woodland, sand or water, represents a unique treasure trove of information on the generations of people who populated this country in the past. An archaeological resource such as this is a source of knowledge and wonder for many. It must therefore be carefully managed, for both current and future generations. The Cultural Heritage Agency’s mission is to give the future a past.
In the establishment Lelystad of the Cultural Heritage Agency, the National Maritime Archaeology Collection is housed.
Visitors are welcome. Entrance is possible by the main entrance of the Batavia Yard.
