The circa 24,000 broadsheets on the Memory provide insight into the Dutch culture from the seventeenth century onwards. The collection includes government publications or proclamations that give an impression of the government interference at the time, and caricatures showing how people viewed Louis XIV, for example. The material can be divided into three categories: government publications (approximately 15,000), occasional poetry (approximately 500) and various materials (approximately 8,500).

Origin
The origin of most of the broadsheets is unknown. The placards have been part of the KB collection since the 19th century. The collection of various separate broadsheets has been built up over the years. The basis of the occasional poetry collection was established in 1866 with the purchase of 2,000 items. In 1972, this collection was expanded extensively with the purchase of the Halwasse collection. The broadsheet collection is growing continually through acquisitions and donations.
