Clandestine Photography during the German Occupation > Ary Willem Gijsbert [Ary] Koppejan (1919)

The archives of amateur photographer and agricultural engineer Ary Koppejan include the pictures he took in The Hague during the German Occupation. He took unique photographs of Germans and pro-German Dutch people who tried to get to Germany with bag and baggage from the Staatsspoor railway station in The Hague. In addition, he documented the November raids to round up people for the ‘Arbeitseinsatz’ (forced labour) in Germany from his apartment in the Laan van Nieuw Oost-Indië. Like almost every other Dutchman who had some film left, Koppejan extensively photographed the Liberation of The Hague.
