From the moment his first collection of poems was published, contemporaries considered A. Roland Holst to be one of the most important poets of the period between the First and the Second World War. As poetry editor of De Gids Roland Holst moreover left a major mark on Dutch literature.
The A. Roland Holst collection of the Literary Museum covers the period 1908-1976. The basis of the collection is formed by the documents he left behind. In the course of time, the collection has been supplemented with documents from other legacies and archives. It includes letters to and from A.Roland Holst, correspondence, handwritten documents, typescripts, printer’s proofs, official and personal papers.
