From Musical Clock to Street Organ > The museum

Museum Speelklok (Museum Musical Clock; formerly known as The National Museum from Musical Clock to Street Organ) was founded following the highly successful exhibition of musical automata organized in 1956 by the city of Utrecht and the Dutch society of "Friends of the Barrel Organ". Since 1984, it is housed in the central medieval parish church of Utrecht, the Buurkerk.

Over the years, the museum has grown into an internationally reputed institute promoting the acquisition, restoration and presentation of self-playing musical instruments while advancing knowledge and research in the wide field of automatic music.
