The bright side of life photographed in Criterion restaurant in London during the roaring twenties. Het Leven willingly showed what took place in cafés, restaurants, bars, port areas, casinos and stylish hotels in large cities and fashionable seaside resorts in Europe. Addiction and drug use, that took on great proportions in the 1920s, were also subjects for a magazine that did not shun sensation. Pictures of opium smokers in Chinese neighborhoods, black-market trade, swindle, smuggling practices and its control can all be found in the collection.
