The photo descriptions, where present, are mainly based on the original information accompanying the photos and found in Het Leven. The accuracy of the information given by the press agencies on the back of photos was usually given with reservations. In some cases the information was revised to improve the understanding of the image using newer sources. Because of the size of the collection, this was not always possible. Particularly for the photos from the last year of publication (1941), additional  information is missing; in these cases the descriptions are based on what is visible on the photos.
