Authorities pointing accusing fingers were sure to receive attention from Het Leven. In 1912, for example, when postcards of foreign naked sculptures were not allowed to be  shown in a display window in Wageningen; and in 1931, when the MP on horseback fined people on the beach of Heemskerk for indecent swimwear.  

Het Leven gladly showed such moralistic behavior. Prudish authorities were challenged or, as the magazine wrote as a result of an affair in Wageningen: "If our bare bodies are seen as being indecent in our country in the year 1912, we had better officially ask permission to be allowed to undress in the evenings before going to bed."
