Clock face
This dial was made for the stairwell of the Pierson & Co Bank in Amsterdam. The tableau was located above the entrance to the tellers’ desks. Its technique is mixed: segmented tiles (cut down to size and shaped by color) and cloisonné (with raised outlines and crystal glazes). Two sayings surround the clock face: carpe diem (seize the day) and fugit irreparabile tempus (time flies irrevocably by). The four corners are decorated with the coat of arms of the United Kingdom, Germany, Berlin, and London.
