Tableau featuring a personification of steam power
In 1884-1885, a new railroad station in neo-Renaissance style was built in Delft. It was designed by the architect C.B. Posthumus Meyjes. Four tile pictures with the allegoric representation of Abundance, Telegraphy, Steam power, and the Patroness of Delft decorated the main hall. Three of the tableaus bear a signature, namely of De Porceleyne Fles, A. le Comte and L. Senf. These tableaus are among the earliest examples of the revival the Dutch tile industry starting in 1880.
