Synod

Title page of the acts of the National Synod, held in 1618 and 1619 at Dordrecht to end a religious dispute with a political impact. In the course of the synod, it was decided to have a new translation made of the Bible. The acts were printed by a syndicate of eight Dordrecht printers, most of whom originated from the southern part of the Low Countries (more or less corresponding with present day Belgium and Luxemburg).
