- Description
- Het beeld is mogelijk afkomstig van Candi Kidal en stelt waarschijnlijk Anushapati (1227-1248), een koning van Singhasari, voor als een incarnatie van de god Shiva. Deze vorst stierf in 1248. Het was gebruikelijk twaalf jaar na het overlijden van een vorst zijn tempel in te wijden. De positie van de twee voorarmen is typerend voor beelden, die overledenen voorstellen en symboliseert bevrijding uit de kringloop van wedergeboorten. Het gebedssnoer en de vliegenkwast zijn twee attributen van Shiva.
