- Een vrouw wacht bij een halte aan de Cornelis Lelylaan in Amsterdam op de tram. Tramlijn 1 verbindt Slotervaart, één van de westelijke tuinsteden, met het centrum van Amsterdam. Het Algemeen Uitbreidingsplan van Amsterdam wilde namelijk de reistijd tussen werk en woning zo kort mogelijk houden. Bovendien wilde men de aantrekkelijkheid van de tuinsteden vergroten door het realiseren van een goede verkeersverbinding. Bewoners moesten zich zowel met het openbaar vervoer als met de eigen auto snel kunnen verplaatsen. Architect J. F. Berghoef heeft dit tot uitdrukking willen brengen door de wegen in de wijken aan te laten sluiten op de hoger gelegen Cornelis Lelylaan. Door de kruisingvrije straat kunnen de trams en de auto's zich sneller voort bewegen zonder opstoppingen. De betonnen opgang rechts op de foto verbindt de tramhalte met de lager gelegen wegen van Slotervaart.
