- De Turken hebben zelf Koranscholen opgericht in Nederland. Turks onderwijs en godsdienstonderwijs worden gezien als de voornaamste oplossingen van de problemen van de tweede generatie, die noch Turks is, noch Nederlands. Met de Koranscholen hoopt men de islamitische erfenis te behouden die bedreigd wordt door de toenemende westerse dominantie. Het basisonderwijs op een Koranschool bestaat uit: het leren van het Arabische alfabet, memoriseren van stukken uit de Koran, het leren schrijven (eerst door middel van het overtrekken van letters), reciteren en dicteren. Daarnaast wordt aandacht besteed aan rekenonderwijs en het eigen land en de geschiedenis ervan.
