- Plaat nummer XXIV uit "Voyage á Surinam et dans l'intérieur de la Guiane" van J. G. Stedman. De bovenste gravure toont een post aan de Commewijne-river, genaamd l' Esperance. Op de onderste gravure staat een plantage afgebeeld, Clarenbeek. Plantage Clarenbeek speelt een kleine rol in de geschiedenis van Suriname en de marrons. In 1789 werd de plantage overvallen door een groep marrons, aangevoerd door de zoon van de bekende rebellenleider Boni, Agosu. — Op het moment van de Emancipatie, de afschaffing van de slavernij op 1 juli 1863, had de plantage 97 slaven. Deeleigenaren waren F. Lissone en de heren Frassinet en van Baak (ten Hove et al. , 2003:161).
