50 years of Prince Bernhard Cultural Fund. Theater.
On 10 August 1940, the Prince Bernhard Cultural Fund, also known as the Carnation Fund, was established in London. At the time, the fund’s objective was to purchase military equipment. After the Second World War the focus of the fund became cultural activities. To mark its 50th anniversary in 1990, the fund asked graphic designer Anthon Beeke to make a series of six posters.
Beeke invited six photographers to photograph six different themes: Erwin Olaf (theater), Hans Aarsman (nature conservation), Henk Tas (music), Laura Samson (culture and design), Teun Hocks (visual arts) and Hannes Wallrafen (science).
