- Bij de Amerikaanse ambassade wordt tijdens de landelijke herdenking van de moord op bisschop Romero een 24-uurs wake gehouden. Bisschop Oscar Romero werd in 1981 vermoord door het regime van El Salvador. Dit regime werd gesteund door de Verenigde Staten. Volgens velen zorgden de economische en militaire steun van de Verenigde Staten aan El Salvador voor de handhaving van het geweld tegen het volk. De 24-uurs wake was vooral gericht tegen de inmenging van de Verenigde Staten in Midden Amerika en tegen de schending van de mensenrechten in het algemeen.
