Albert Verwey, Julia. A Tale of Sicily. Fragment
In order to play a trick on literary critics, Willem Kloos and Albert Verwey published the tale in rhyme Julia. A Tale of Sicily in 1885 under the pseudonym Guido. Several critics praised the kitschy piece of rhyme. In their pamphlet The incompetence of Dutch literary criticism Kloos and Verwey revealed their prank and exposed the reviewers.
