- Na de rituele wassing knipt men kledingstukken uit een katoenen witte lap van 21 el, de morie poetih. Deze worden ongenaaid op het lichaam van de overledene gelegd. De rest van de lap wordt om de dode gelegd en op een oneven aantal plaatsen, meestal drie, dichtgebonden. Rond de voeten, rond het middel en vlakbij het hoofd. De morie poetih moet wit zijn, want dat is de kleur van de reinheid. De ka'um assisteert hierbij wel.
