The Specilla circularia is a text on microscopes by the Amsterdam burgomaster Johannes Hudde (1628-1704). The text was printed in an extremely small print run in 1656, but was very innovative because of the mathematical approach to a technical problem. The booklet was lost for centuries, until it popped up on an auction in London and was acquired by the KB.
