Sepp and Nozeman's ‘Nederlandsche vogelen’ (Dutch birds, 1770-1829) is the first systematic overview in word and image of Netherlandish birds. The birds were all portrayed life size and the plates are each hand-colored after life. The descriptions by Cornelis Nozeman and later editors are based on research in the field and full of interesting details about the bird's lifes and habits. This luxurious production was the most expensive book on the market.
