Description
Hieronymus van Alpen published his 'Kleine gedigten voor kinderen' [small poems for children] in three parts between 1778 and 1782. With 'Jantje zag eens pruimen hangen' and other classic verses, Van Alphen introduced something new in the literary world: to write for children from their own perspective. In this unique compiled version from 1783, the illustrations are carefully hand-colord by an aunt for her nephew.
