F.A.F.C. Went
In 1896 F. Went was appointed professor of botany at the University of Utrecht. He focused in particular on the physiology of plants and his research into this subject earned him much praise. When carrying out experiments, he often used Avena sativa (oats). Phototropy refers to growth under the influence of light.
