Description
Aan de Zaan werden rond 1900 tafels en kasten beschilderd met taferelen die ontleend zijn aan de Hollandse meesters uit de 17de eeuw. Er heeste een voorliefde voor taferelen die Hollands welvaren uit het verleden uitbeelden. Zeeslagen zijn daarom een veel geschilderd onderwerp. De omlijsting van deze taferelen is meestal wel typerend voor de periode rond 1900.
