- De 'Gekke' bamboedans uit Centraal Molukken. Een van de meest typische dansen in Centraal Molukken (Ambon) is misschien wel die Gekke bamboedans. In het Maleis heet hij tari bambu gila. Tari betekent dans, bambu natuurlijk bamboe en gila is gek. Sommige mensen zeggen dat het eigenlijk helemaal geen dans is. Er zijn zeven jonge mannen, die een lange bamboestok vasthouden. Deze bamboestok is met zorg uitgezocht door de leider van de groep. De stok heeft zeven delen, fragmenten, van elkaar gescheiden door een tussenschot. Elke man houdt één fragment in zijn handen. Toen deze bamboe gekapt is heeft de leider op de plaats waar hij gestaan heeft een muntstuk neergelegd, bedoeld als dank aan de bamboestoel. Dat is het magische element in deze dans. Dan staat er een man bij, die de tifa bespeelt en één met een bakje brandende wierook. De leider snuift die wierook op, raakt in trance, begint te blazen op die bamboestok en spreekt ondertussen een spreuk uit. Daardoor krijgt die bamboestok magische kracht. De leider laat de bamboe met de zeven mannen alle kanten op gaan. Hij heeft dus de bamboe én de mannen in zijn macht.
