H. Marsman

A poem like Marsman’s Holland suggests a deep sense of connection between the poet and the Dutch Lowlands (“dit is mijn land, mijn volk, / dit is de ruimte, waarin ik wil klinken.”), but in fact one of the poet’s greatest desires was to travel abroad and settle somewhere outside the Netherlands for good.
