Description
This map of Madagascar was published in 1662 in Joan Blaeus (1598-1673) Atlas Maior. For this map, Blaeu used a French source, probable a map by Etienne de Flacourt (1607-1660) from 1658. The French considered the island - discovered by Diogo Dias - as "La France Orientale".
