Description
Except for the shorelines on the map, this map of Africa is hardly accurate. This fact is not only a significant characteristic of this map by Nicolaas Visscher II (1649-1702), it is also the case for any other map of Africa published in the 17th and 18th centuries. The inlands of Africa were only explored in the second half of the 19th century.
