- De haven van Riga in de tweede helft van de 17e eeuw. Een aantal schepen ligt in de haven. Het schip op de voorgrond wordt net in- of uitgeladen. Aan de wal liggen verschillende tonnen en pakken klaar om verscheept of opgeslagen te worden. Links in beeld, in rood, staat een takel voor het in- en uitladen van de schepen. Op de voorgrond zijn een aantal kooplieden afgebeeld. De schepen in de haven voeren verschillende wimpels, waaronder het rood-wit-blauw van Nederland. Riga was een van de handelspartners van de Republiek in het Oostzeegebied, van waaruit vooral hennep en hout werd aangevoerd.
