- Een pentekening van een man die zijn bezittingen verkoopt. Hij is alleen gekleed in een slip en heeft een legeridentiteitsplaatje om zijn hals. Op zijn linkerarm zijn de tatoeages van een kangaroe en een anker te zien. In zijn linkerhand houdt hij een korte broek. Zijn rechter hand heft hij met twee uitgestrekte vingers op naar een in uniform geklede man. Deze man staat links van hem en keurt een hoed. Rechts een man in uniform die een riem om zijn middel strak trekt. Rechts op de voorgrond een man die hurkt voor twee koffers met spullen. Hij houdt een halfhoge legerschoen in zijn handen. Op de achtergrond een omheining van prikkeldraad. Op bladzijde 68 van het boek: "Achter de Kawat" is de tekening afgedrukt met de volgende tekst: "Ernie, uit Queensland, verpatst zijn gehele particuliere garderobe om wat te roken te hebben. Misschien ook voor wat 'zwart' eten of een klein gokje. Hij hoopt als naaktloper door de Jap weer te worden aangekleed. Dat lukt dan ook nog. En naast hem ook veel anderen".
