- Vanaf het Zuidpleinviaduct in Rotterdam kijkt men uit op het Ikazia-ziekenhuis. Op de rechterzijde van de foto staat een woontoren afgebeeld. Cramer en Kruisheer en Groenewegen en Mieras ontwierpen Zuidplein en het werd gebouwd in 1969. In deze periode hield Rotterdam zich bezig met het aantrekken en veiligstellen van werkgelegenheid en dat het liefst op grote schaal. Het feit dat in 1962 de stad zich de grootste haven van de wereld mocht noemen zal er niet vreemd aan zijn dat de plannen een steeds grotere schaal kregen. Het hoogtepunt van dit denken kwam met het plan 2000+ in 1969. Hierin zag Rotterdam zichzelf als het centrum van een conglomeratie die zich uitsrekte tot de Grevelingen en Gouda. Functies van werken, wonen, verkeer en ontspanning werden over dit gebied verdeeld. Zo werd Voorne-Putten haven- en industriegebied en op Goeree-Overflakkeen moest een nieuwe stad komen. Het plan maakte echter bij het stadsbestuur geen schijn van kans. Een bescheidener variant, de structuurnota 1972, werd uitgevoerd. Uitgangspunt bleef de scheiding in functies, maar nu op kleinere schaal. In het stadscentrum vestiging van bedrijven, vermaak, maar weinig woningen. Om het centrum heen werden woonwijken gebouwd die met het openbaar vervoer verbonden waren met het centrum.
