- Description
- The print shows the complex of pleasure gardens of Enghien near Brussels. The plan is part of a series of prints commissioned by Nicolaas Visscher II (1649-1702) and engraved by Romeyn de Hooghe (1645-1708). In the parc was also a Greek Mountain of Parnassus which could often be seen in pleasure gardens. In antiquity, the Parnassus, dedicated to Apollo and the Muses, was the traditional home of poetry and music.
